The Sulon Cortex gaming platform is a fully immersive gaming experience, by turning any physical space into essentially a holodeck; using a spatial scanner, a processing unit, and a visor mount that plugs into any smartphone to turn its screen into a stereoscopic display. Because the Cortex knows where you are in relation to the room’s walls, it can create whole new images based on that environment. Pretty exciting as you’ll see in the video below.
While actual “real-life environment immersion” is different from what I’ve seen offered by Oculus Rift, Project Morpheus, and Player Gear Totem, it’s not difficult to imagine that those other VR Headset developers adopting this ideas in their future products.
